Is Fiberon a good choice?
Short answer: Fiberon is worth considering if you want a low-maintenance alternative to wood with several price and appearance levels. Its strongest advantage is choice: Good Life, Sanctuary, and Concordia are PE composite, while Paramount and Promenade are PVC. The trade-off is that performance, profiles, wet-area guidance, and warranty terms differ by collection.

Fiberon also sells retailer-exclusive lines, including ArmorGuard and Veranda. Novus was announced in 2026, but Fiberon’s current page still invites early previews and Composite Deck Shop does not list it. Treat Novus as a future option until a Canadian seller confirms ordering, specifications, and warranty documents.

Fiberon decking advantages
A value-to-premium range, in composite and in PVC
Good Life is Fiberon’s value family, Sanctuary and Concordia step up in appearance, profile and warranty, and Paramount and Promenade cover PVC. One brand gives you more than one material path, as long as you do not assume every Fiberon board behaves the same way.
Routine upkeep is lower than unfinished wood
Current Fiberon guidance says its boards do not need sanding, staining, or painting. Regular cleaning is still required, but there is no recurring wood-stain cycle. This can suit homeowners who want to spend less time refinishing the deck.
Long residential warranty terms are available
Warranty length rises by collection, from 25 years for Good Life Weekender to limited lifetime performance coverage on Concordia, Paramount, and Promenade. Stain and fade terms also vary. These are limited warranties with conditions and exclusions, not blanket promises against every type of damage.
Named PE lines use substantial recycled material
Fiberon’s current product pages state that Concordia contains 94% recycled material and that Sanctuary and Good Life contain at least 94%, using recycled wood and plastic. Do not apply that percentage to the PVC families: Fiberon’s current Paramount and Promenade pages do not publish the same claim.
Trade-offs to plan for
Sun and heat
Test a sample in the planned exposure. Dark colours and concentrated window reflections can increase surface heat; follow the current heat-source clearances.
Scratches and furniture
Use furniture pads and lift heavy objects. The cap is not scratch-proof, and ordinary wear and scratches are excluded from the standard warranty.
Installation
Use the guide for the exact PE or PVC board. Confirm supports, fasteners, gaps, stairs and fascia before ordering.
Water and winter
Confirm the permitted water contact and freeze-thaw precautions for the selected collection. A capped surface does not make every board suitable for submersion.
Matching components
Check the full order: colour, length, square-edge stair boards, fascia and compatible fasteners. A missing component can change the layout.
Installation numbers to check before you order
Fiberon's current composite installation guide (FIB-0354-LIT, October 2025) covers every PE line, including Good Life Weekender and Escapes, Sanctuary, Concordia and ArmorGuard. Several of its numbers change what goes on the material list, and Fiberon states that its spacing requirements "must be met for full Fiberon® warranty coverage."

- Side gaps: at least 3/16 in. between boards, and at least 1/4 in. wherever a board meets the house or another permanent structure. That perimeter minimum does not shrink in summer.
- End gaps at butt joints depend on the air temperature on installation day: 1/4 in. at 35°F (about 2°C) and below, 3/16 in. from 36 to 69°F, 1/8 in. from 70 to 89°F, 1/16 in. from 90 to 109°F, and none at 110°F and above. Fiberon recommends 2x blocking at butt joints where temperature swings are large, which is most of Ontario.
- Air under the deck: leave at least 1-1/2 in. of open space between the bottom of the joists (or fascia) and the ground, with unobstructed airflow along at least half of the perimeter. A low deck over a concrete pad needs sleepers; the boards cannot go straight onto the slab.
- Stair treads must be square-edge boards. Grooved boards are not approved for treads, so a flight of stairs adds a separate board to the order.
A diagonal or herringbone layout at 12 in. therefore means about a third more joists than a straight one at 16 in. before a single board is cut. If you want less flex underfoot, tighter framing than the maximum is allowed, but it is a choice rather than a requirement. Paramount and Promenade are PVC and follow Fiberon's separate PVC instructions, so do not apply these figures to them.
Named Fiberon composite products have a Canadian evaluation from the National Research Council, CCMC 13500-R. This report lists Horizon, Symmetry, Sanctuary and Protect Advantage; it does not cover every Fiberon collection. Its stair limits are tighter than the general manufacturer table above: 230 mm (9 in.) for Symmetry and 203 mm (8 in.) for Sanctuary and Protect Advantage, with slip-resistant strips. Have the designer reconcile the applicable evaluation and current installation instructions before using either set of figures. Sample before you commit: place the board beside the home and view it in morning and afternoon light. Check colour, grain, glare, surface comfort, and how it meets railings, doors, stairs, and existing finishes.
Warranty and care checklist
- Name the exact collection. “Fiberon decking” is not enough for a quote or warranty decision.
- Open the current warranty. Confirm performance and stain/fade terms, proration, exclusions, transfer rules, and labour coverage.
- Separate product and labour coverage. Fiberon’s standard residential warranty may provide replacement material or a prorated refund, and does not automatically pay removal or reinstallation costs. A separate limited labour program applies only to qualifying products and certified installers.
- Keep proof of purchase. Save the authorized-dealer invoice, product labels, installation manual, photos, and registration confirmation.
- Follow the exact installation guide. Use the current PE or PVC instructions for support, gaps, ventilation, drainage, fasteners, stairs, and fascia. Improper installation or care can affect a claim.
- Clean without damaging the cap. Start with soap and water or a mild cleaner and a non-metal brush. Follow the current product guide before using a pressure washer or stain treatment.
- Plan winter care. Remove snow with plastic tools or a nylon broom. Work parallel to the boards and avoid abrasive sand or sharp-edged tools.
Warranty terms and technical instructions can change. Re-open Fiberon’s current warranty page, maintenance guidance, and installation literature for the product you are buying.

It can. Fiberon warns that decking retains heat in direct or reflected sun. Colour, exposure, nearby glass, and shade affect surface comfort, so test a sample at the site.
Is Fiberon decking scratch-proof?
No. The cap helps with stain and fade performance, but the surface can scratch or gouge. Normal wear and surface scratches are warranty exclusions.
